Sebastian Inlet Report

02-17-17 FRIDAY: TGIF! SHEEPSHEAD, REDS, SNOOK, BLUES AND JACKS

What a beautiful morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West at 2 mph, gusting to 5 and the water has a light chop. It looks as if the boaters will catch a break this weekend with cooperative seas. The forecast looks good except for a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday afternoons. For those of you who are lucky enough to have President's Day off, Monday is predicted to be gorgeous. Always check the NOAA forecast prior to boating.

Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported that Blues and Jacks have been hitting lures this morning. Yesterday the bite was slow-steady with large Sheepshead, Snook and Reds coming over the rails of the jetties.
Our photo features Danielle Ely of Sebastian. Danielle landed her oversized C/R Red using shrimp, fishing from the north side. The Red was released unharmed right after the photo.

The FWC will be hosting the 6th Annual Women's Fishing Clinic on Saturday, March 18th from 9:00 - 5:00 at the Sebastian Inlet State Park. The event is open to ladies 18 and over who have a valid recreational saltwater fishing license, unless exempt. Fishing equipment is loaned during the event but you may bring your own gear. All participants must pre-register by contacting Heather Sneed at 850-487-0554 or Heather.Sneed@MyFWC.com. The clinic is a catch and release only event.
