Warmer weather is here to stay! Lots of sunshine has greeted anglers along the Treasure Coast lately. We are dealing with the windy days as usual, but the weather has definitely improved for us. Water temperatures have reach the high seventies this week and the fishing has been very good most days. As we transition into summer patterns, you can expect lots more of the same conditions in March.
There are still lots of sheepshead and snapper around the river willing to bite on a live or dead shrimp. We are finding our redfish both under docks and around the mangroves lately. Our trout have come from south of Fort Pierce. Try a DOA Deadly Combo or Monster 3X to locate the trout. Snook fishing has been good around the inlet, bridges and mangroves this week. There are some mackerel, jacks and bluefish in the inlet area. It's a fun time of year to get out fishing!
Be aware that the boat traffic around Fort Pierce has seen a huge increase lately. As anglers come up from the Stuart area to get away from the Lake Okeechobee water in the St. Lucie River, you can expect a more crowded area around here. Be aware of boaters around you while out there!
