Sebastian Inlet Report
02-09-16 TUESDAY: BLACK DRUM, POMPANO, SHEEPSHEAD, TROUT, FLOUNDER, BLUES AND REDS
ENDANGERED NORTH ATLANTIC RIGHT WHALES ARE IN THE INLET. THE MOTHER AND CALF ARE HEALTHY. THE MOTHER IS APPROXIMATELY 45 FEET LONG AND THE CALF IS APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET LONG. FWC IS MONITORING THE WHALES. PLEASE AVOID USING THE INLET IF POSSIBLE; THERE ARE ONLY 500 OF THESE WHALES LEFT IN EXISTENCE. THE WHALES ARE VISIBLE FROM SHORE; THEY HAVE BEEN HANGING AROUND THE SAND TRAP WEST OF THE BRIDGE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
Winds are blowing out of the West at 7 mph gusting to 13. NOAA has issued a small craft advisory through Wednesday morning. Black Drum continue to be the best bite at the inlet. Clams and dead shrimp have been the baits of choice. Pompano and Sheepshead are hitting crustaceans, particularly sand fleas. Speckled Trout, Flounder, Blues and Reds round out the mix.
