02-11-16 THURSDAY: BLACK DURM, SNOOK, POMPANO, SHEEPSHEAD AND BLUES
We have another chilly morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Northwest at 8 mph, gusting to 13 and there is a moderate chop on the water. The wind is predicted to decrease this afternoon and it should warm up nicely. Looks like it's shaping up to be a good fishing day!
Yesterday the outgoing tide produced some slot and oversized Snook, Black Drum and Pompano. A few straggler Spanish Mackerel, Blues and Sheepshead rounded out the catches.
Our first photo today features Rich Blum of upstate NY and Vero Beach. Rich fished the north jetty and reported the bite was good . He arrived on the jetty around 9:00 a.m. Everybody was fishing the inlet side of the jetty where they landed multiple slot Snook and Black Drum. Rich got a spot in the corner and after twenty minutes landed his first Black Drum. The bite really turned on between 10:00 - 12:00 with at least thirty Black Drum coming over the rails. Rich landed five and took home four using marinated clams and old, dead shrimp. The Pompano bite turned on around 1:00 as Rich was leaving.
Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach is featured in our second photo. Mike's 27" Black Drum was one of two he landed using clams.
