Sebastian Inlet Report

09-02-15 WEDNESDAY: A FEW REDS, SNOOK AND SNAPPER

Whew, it is a warm day out on the jetties. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 3 mph and the water is calm. The no see 'ums are out in force and chomping away at our inlet anglers. We are experiencing extreme tides due to the Aug. 29th super moon (when the moon is closer to Earth). We have two more super moons coming up, September 28 and October 27th. Those would be great times to head to the Sebastian Inlet State Park for a little music under the stars. Vince Love and the Soul Cats will perform on Sept. 26th. Take chairs or a blanket and go see a fun Motown/Blues band from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on the south side of the Park.

Yesterday, Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach fished the north jetty and reported a slow Snapper bite. Five or six slot Reds were landed. The Snook bite picked up when the tide turned to incoming and three slot Snook came over the rails along with at least one oversized fish. Sounds like good opening day.

This morning the bite was slow off the north jetty. The dirty, weedy water is a pain to fish in and is keeping the Snapper bite down. A few Mangrove Snapper came over the rails for a couple of anglers, but most anglers were "feeding the fish". Two oversized Snook, 34" and 36" were landed and released by inlet regular Tony Swiderski of Sebastian. George Yenque of Orlando landed a huge 38" C/R Red that was released unharmed. One slot Red came over the rails, but overall it was a hot, slow, buggy morning. A couple of Blue Runners, Catfish, and a Jack were landed.
Our first photo today features Dana Ferrier of W. Melbourne. Dana landed this nice 25" Redfish off the north jetty yesterday.
Photo two features inlet regular Paul Szoke of Barefoot Bay. Paul has been fishing for Mangrove Snapper lately and was having pretty good luck until the murky water set in.
