Sebastian Inlet Report

                                           
08-03-15 MONDAY: SLOW BITE.... 

Winds are blowing out of the South at 10 mph and gusting to 15 this morning. We have a moderate chop on the water with a good chance of showers and thunderstorms today. The water is still chilly.

Fishing remains on the slow side even though a good amount of bait is in the water. Greenies, mojarra and a few silver mullet are swimming around both jetties but the fish just aren't biting well. This time of year is always slow and we aren't surprised by the lack of activity. Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported Snapper, a few oversized Reds and Jacks were biting in small numbers over the weekend. Schools of Bonito and Spanish Mackerel were out of casting range for the jetty anglers but some of the boats were picking up a few. 

Our photo today features Adam and Tanner Panzella. The pair used a chunk of Spanish Mackerel to shark fish when this large and slimy Moray Eel picked it up for breakfast. They released the eel right after the photo. The eel's jaws are very strong and can take off a finger if not held properly, nice handling Adam. This unusual catch may be our first Moray Eel on the fishing report, thanks for sharing!
