Scouting Around- Palm Beach Area

                                  INSHORE
There are big numbers of snook and tarpon cruising the beaches of the Treasure Coast. Big jacks (up to 15 pounds) — and a lot of them — are also being caught. The best time to fish is during low light.
Big schools of tarpon are being reported in the Indian River as well, especially near Walton Road. They’re also holding around the bridges, along with snook, and in the inlets.
Trout, redfish and flounder and being caught in the river from Nettle’s Point north, and from Joe’s Point south.
There haven’t been many snook or tarpon on the beaches in Jupiter, but there are plenty of snook in the inlet. They’re also biting around the bridges and dock lights in the Intracoastal Waterway, especially at night.
Snook are being caught in the inlets in central and southern Palm Beach County as well, and can always be found near structure in the Intracoastal. Mangrove snapper and tarpon have also been snagged in these spots this week. A few sheepshead were also reported.

FRESHWATER
The best bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee right now is out in the open water. A few good spots are the Cross, Spoil Islands and reefs. The shoal has been decent as well.
These are productive early in the morning and during the first few hours of sunlight. Once it heats up, however, your best bet is fishing back in the pepper grass.
Good numbers of bass are being caught early in the day, but the bite is done by 11 a.m. Live shiners are working better than artificial lures at this point, but you can certainly have success with both.
