Sebastian Inlet Report

07-08-15 WEDNESDAY: THE BITE REMAINS SLOW

We have a nice, warm morning at the inlet. Winds are barely blowing out of the East-Southeast at 2 mph and gusting to 4. There are no NOAA advisories but we have a chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening. We have very little cloud cover and high humidity which is creating sauna-like conditions for our inlet anglers. There is a light chop on the water and we have a small swell for our surfers this morning, a very small swell, but anything at this point in the summer is good.

Fishing remains hit or miss. Overall the action is slow. C/R Snook are in spawning mode and there are plenty of them around. It's best not to target the species at this time. If you land a Snook, please handle with extreme care and get it back into the water as soon as possible. If you need a net to pull it up onto the jetty, use the net to lower it back into the water. Read the FWC's catch and release guidelines at the top of this page for more information. A few anglers have landed slot sized Reds but most have been oversized.

Our first photo today features inlet regular Bill Hillman, his daughter Dezi and her friend Gabby. Bill drives over from Kissimmee to get out on the jetty and relax, even if the fish aren't biting well. Bill had great luck with this 25" slot Red. They also landed 11 jacks that day.

Photo two features Rangelo Soriano of Miami. Rangelo and his girlfriend travel to Vero Beach quite often to visit his Aunt and fish the inlet. They fished and reported lots of greenies and mojarra in the water and Jacks, Snook and Reds dominated the catches. Daylight hours were slow but the bite picked up in
the evening. Rangelo landed the C/R Snook that was released unharmed after the photo.
