Sebastian Inlet Report
05-01-15 FRIDAY: TGIF!
The south catwalk is now open and the north catwalk is closed for repair. On May 5th and 6th the A-1-A bridge over the inlet will close from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. and again from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Keep it in mind when planning to travel over the bridge those two days; you may want to build in a little extra time.
What a glorious morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Northwest at 6 mph, gusting to 10 and there is a light chop on the water. We have a beautiful weekend forecasted with highs in the low 80's. We may have a little wind to contend with, but what a great couple of days to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. Now if we can just get the fish to cooperate, it would be perfect!
The jetties haven't been producing much action this past week. An occasional Snook will find its way to a lucky angler, but mostly people have just been catching rays...from the sun. The flats have been more productive and the south jetty has had a few Flounder and Lookdowns come over the rails. Anglers are getting a little anxious waiting for the bite to turn on.
Grouper season opens today in Atlantic state waters through January 1, 2016. Gag, Red, Black, Yellowmouth, Yellowfin, Tiger, Scamp, Red Hind, Rock hind, Coney and Graysby. You may possess no more than three grouper per person per day and only one Black or Gag, not both. Captain and crew of for-hire vessels may not retain grouper when the season is open. For more information go to www.MyFWC.com/Fishing, select "Saltwater Fishing" then "Recreational Regulations" and "Groupers".
Our first photo today is courtesy of David Stinson. Paula Block of West Palm Beach was fishing the south beach when she pulled this healthy, 17" Spanish Mackerel out of the surf. Paula was using cut mullet to land this nice fish.
