Palm Beach Report

INSHORE

The snook bite has been good on the east side of the Indian River, especially in and around the little mosquito ditches near the power plant. There have been some nice flounder catches as well, and the mangrove snapper bite is decent.

As always, there are snook around the bridges and docks at night. The biggest snook seem to be holding around the Roosevelt Bride.

Snook are being spotted in the surf along Jupiter and also from the Juno Beach Pier throughout the day. There are good numbers of them inside the Jupiter Inlet as well.

Anglers working the bridges of the Intracoastal Waterway and Loxahatchee River in Jupiter are catching good numbers of snook and some tarpon around the bridges and in deeper holes. Ladyfish and jacks are also in the mix.

There are snook in the Lake Worth/Palm Beach and Boynton Beach inlets, and they are starting to show up on the beach in bigger numbers. Your best bet is still targeting them at the bridges and docks of the Intracoastal, however. Fishing the surf early in the morning can be productive though.

Ladyfish and tarpon are also being spotted around the bridges of the Intracoastal at night.

FRESHWATER

The weather hasn’t been too great on Lake Okeechobee this week either, but there were plenty of bass caught. The key this week has been staying dry.

Up until this recent front moved in, the best fishing was early in the day — from before sunrise until mid-morning. However, with the slight cool-down, the bite has been on throughout the day. That will change as this moves through and it heats up again.

Fishing the outside edges and back in the grass (when the wind will allow it) is the way to go. Good numbers of bass, and some decent sizes (over 6 pounds) were reported this week.

    While live shiners and artificial lures will both do the trick, live shiners are definitely working better at this point.
