Sebastian Inlet Report

02-05-15 THURSDAY: A COUPLE OF C/R SNOOK AND REDS, BONNETHEADS AND RAYS

THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IS RENOVATING THE SOUTH CATWALK; IT IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THE A-1-A BRIDGE WILL BE CLOSED FOR 90 MINUTES FEBRUARY 3 - 6, 2015 FROM 10:00 - 11:30 AND 1:30 - 3:00 P.M. YOU MAY WANT TO BUILD IN SOME EXTRA TIME FOR TRAFFIC DELAYS IF YOU ARE TRAVELING OVER THE BRIDGE.

We have cloudy skies over the inlet this morning but the heavy rains have subsided for now. Go prepared for rain if you head to the inlet today the forecast is calling for it to clear up late this afternoon/early evening. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 9 mph gusting to 11 and there is a moderate chop on the water. NOAA has issued a small craft advisory through late Friday night.

Things are slow at the inlet. Not a lot of folks are out today, could be the rain and could be the bridge closing. We talked to early morning north jetty regular Tony Swiderski who reported a slow bite this morning. A couple of C/R oversized Snook and Reds came over the rails but most of the morning activity came from Bonnethead Sharks and three Manta Rays.
Our angler of the days is Skip Stowers of Kissimmee. with a nice sheepshead.

The Sebastian Inlet State Park will be hosting several workshops on "How to Surf Fish". The workshops will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., meet at the Fishing Museum on the south side of the State Park. Take a pen and notepad for taking notes. Info on rod and reel selection, rigging, baits and more! The dates are on Saturday's, February 14th (take your sweetheart), March 14th and April 11th.
