Sebastian Inlet Report

02-12-15 THURSDAY: THE BITE REMAINS SLOW

We have another pretty morning at the inlet, a little windy and chilly but nice. The wind is blowing out of the North-Northwest at 5 mph, gusting to 8 and is expected to increase this afternoon. There is a moderate chop on the water and NOAA has issued a small craft advisory for high seas in effect through this evening. NOAA has issued another advisory for small craft through Friday afternoon.

We wish we had more to report but the bite remains on the slow side. A few small Sheepshead and Spanish Mackerel have been making appearances, an occasional Red and a few Spotted Sea Trout have been landed but they are few and far between. Anglers fishing the Sebastian River and Indian River Lagoon are having better luck looking in grassy depressions and holes where the water is a little warmer.

Our angler of the day is Luke Vila of Kissimmee with a Spotted Trot he landed. Luke and his friend Justin Mitchell also hooked up with a Shark that ended up breaking a 100 lb. leader after a 10 minute fight. They were using 1/2 Bluefish for bait to hook the Shark.
