Sebastian Inlet Report

01-08-15 THURSDAY: COLD, WINDY AND SLOPPY CONDITIONS

We don't have many folks out braving the cold, wind and sloppy conditions at the inlet this morning. Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported one Sheephsead was landed by one of the few people out on the north jetty this morning. We are going to be presumptive in assuming the species are the usual winter species including Black Drum, Blues, Bonito and Sea Trout. We are expecting a cool day all day today with high winds and a good chance of rain. If you head to the inlet, bundle up in waterproof layers.

Our angler of the day is Khoi Van of Melbourne. Khoi is a student at Mississippi State and is enjoying his winter break at home by fishing the inlet. Khoi fished the inlet using shrimp for bait, Khoi landed two Black Drum, the one in our photo was 25" and was landed during slack tide and the other was 20" that was landed on the outgoing tide. He also landed a Sheepshead on shrimp and witnessed several other Sheepshead and one Pompano coming over the rails.
