Sebastian Inlet Report

01-05-15 MONDAY: BLUES, BONITO, SPECKLED TROUT, SHEEPSHEAD, A FEW REDS, POMPANO, BLACK DRUM AND FLOUNDER

We have another gray morning at the inlet. We have a lot of dark clouds all around the inlet and a good chance of rain today. Small craft should exercise caution as winds are blowing out of the North at 20 mph and gusting to 26.

Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported a pretty good weekend with lots of Blues, Bonito and Sheepshead coming over the rails. A few Black Drum, Reds, Flounder and Pompano were landed as well. The flats produced quite a few Speckled Trout. There are large mullet in the water, but not many finger mullet. This time of year, most anglers switch to shrimp, clams or sand fleas for live baits and silver spoons, gotcha lures or bucktails for artificials.
Alek Turko of Indialantic is featured in our photo today. Alek fished the north jetty and landed this 22" Black Drum.

The Sebastian Inlet State Park will be hosting several workshops on "How to Surf Fish". The workshops will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., meet at the Fishing Museum on the south side of the State Park. Take a pen and notepad for taking notes. Info on rod and reel selection, rigging, baits and more! The dates are all on Saturday's, January 17th, February 14th (take your sweetheart), March 14th and April 11th.
