Palm Beach Report

INSHORE
The pompano bite has slowed about along the beaches of the Treasure Coast. However, as the water clears up, it should improve once again. There are plenty of whiting, croaker and bluefish around, however.
Fortunately, pompano are still chewing in the Indian River, especially in the deeper holes (8-12 feet). Redfish are biting on the west side, and there are plenty of snook around the bridges and docks at night. The Roosevelt Bridge has been on fire!
There are some pompano along the beach in Jupiter, but they only show up when the water is clear and calm. There are also big numbers of Spanish mackerel and bluefish. They’re being caught at the Jupiter Inlet jetty as well.
The best bite in the Intracoastal Waterway in the Hobe Sound/Jupiter area is from Marker 46-40, where pompano, big ladyfish and jacks, and small snapper are all being reported. Live shrimp is working great.
There has been some decent action in the surf along Palm Beach this week as well. Ladyfish, jacks and Spanish mackerel are all in the mix.

FRESHWATER
It has been another great week for bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee. The numbers are up, as are the sizes. Several guides reported customers catching bass weighing more than 7 pounds, and up to 40 fish are being snagged on a half-day trip.
On windy days, it has been difficult to fish the outside edges and back in the grass, but that’s where the best action is. There’s no issue on days when the wind lies down.
Regardless, bass are biting throughout the lake, so there’s no shortage of action. The East Wall has been one of the best spots this week.
Live shiners still get the not over artificial lures, but you can catch your share either way.
