12-11-14 THURSDAY: SNOOK, BLUES, REDS, SHEEPSHEAD, POMPANO, BLACK DRUM AND MUTTON SNAPPER
We have another cool morning at the inlet, it's in the mid 50's but the wind has calmed down and changed directions. Winds are blowing out of the West at 4 mph, gusting to 7 and there is a moderate chop on the water. There are no NOAA advisories at this time. The West wind will help alleviate the beach erosion that has been taking place; the Northeast winds really chew up our beaches.
We received an update from Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop this morning who reported a good Snook bite occurring. Today would be a great day to get out and try to land one in the slot before the season closes on Monday. You must have a Snook stamp on your license in order to keep one in the slot of 28" - 32". Tommy also reported Blues are running on the outgoing afternoon tide. Reds, Sheepshead, Black Drum and a few Mutton Snapper are active and some mid-sized Flounder are being caught in the inlet and on the south side, but not in the numbers we expect for this time of year. Please take photos on site and hold any C/R species horizontally, supporting the jaw and belly.
Our first photo today features north jetty regular B.J. Anan of Orlando. BJ landed this slot Snook in the morning at sunrise.
