Sebastian Inlet Report

11-14-14 FRIDAY: SPANISH MACKEREL, JACKS, BLUES, SNOOK, REDS, FLOUNDER, SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM AND TROUT

We have another pretty morning at the inlet and we have a real nice day forecasted, mid 70's with a mix of sun and clouds, but very little chance of rain. Rain chances increase over the weekend and the NOAA forecast is calling for 3 - 5' seas with a dominate period of 6 seconds. If that's a little bumpy for you, the intracoastal will be the place to be, NOAA is calling for smooth waters.

Not only having are we having superb weather, the bite is hot and our inlet anglers are keeping busy. Snook, Reds, Spanish Mackerel, big Jacks and Blues, good sized Black Drum, Trout and Flounder are making their ways in and out of the inlet. We are still waiting on the Pompano bite. Tommy Turowski of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported this morning, the Spanish Mackerel are tearing it up! Anglers using Gotcha lures and spoons are having good luck with the lightning fast species. Tommy reported that schools of finger mullet have thinned out but they can be found with a little persistence. Greenies, pogies, shrimp, sand fleas and clams are also good choices for bait.

Our first photo today is courtesy of Justin Werner of Palm Bay. This photo of Justin (center) and two other inlet regulars B.J Anan (L) and Bob Meerza (R) of Orlando with slot sized Snook. Justin reported that they had an EPIC weekend of Snook fishing with plenty of slot sized fish to go around!
Our last photo today features Ezra Domnguez of Kissimmee with a monster C/R Red he landed off the north jetty on. Ezra was using a Mirrolure when he hooked up with this big Red around 7:30 p.m. The Red was released unharmed after the photo.

The Sebastian Inlet State Park will be hosting several workshops on "How to Surf Fish". The workshops will be from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., meet at the Fishing Museum on the south side of the State Park. Take a pen and notepad for taking notes. Info on rod and reel selection, rigging, baits and more! The dates are all on Saturday?s beginning November 15th, December 6th, January 17th, February 14th (take your sweetheart), March 14th and April 11th. This would be a great weekend to get to the Park and learn to surf fish or just sharpen your skills!
