Sebastian Inlet Report
10-08-14 WEDNESDAY: REDS, JACKS, SNOOK, SPANISH MACKEREL, BLUE RUNNERS AND MANGROVE SNAPPER
We have overcast skies over the inlet this morning, making the conditions very nice for our anglers. Although the weather forecast is only calling for a 5% chance of rain, it looks like there's a good chance of a shower occurring. Winds are blowing out of the East-Northeast at 5 mph, gusting to 8 and the water is calm.
We received an update from Mike Ricciardi who was back out on the north jetty yesterday morning for the morning shift. Mike reported lots of oversized Reds; he landed a big 42" using a dead greenie while fishing for Mangrove Snapper! Mike managed to get his limit of five Snapper, but it was tough as the bite has slowed down quite a bit. Inlet regulars Spiro Stathopoulos landed a 37" C/R Snook and Mike White of Sebastian landed the only slot Snook at 30" during Mike's time on the jetty. Tony Swiderski, Chuck Fischer and Spiro Stathopoulos all landed 3 - 4 oversized Reds that were returned to the water along with a bunch of Jacks. Finger mullet and greenies are still abundant.
Our first photo today features Rich Saldano of Melbourne. Rich was fishing the north jetty when he hooked up with this real nice Spanish Mackerel using live mullet. Rich also landed another, almost as large.
Photo two features Joe Hirbour of Sebastian with a large Jack in the 8 - 9 lb. range he landed using live shrimp instead of finger mullet; there were plenty of those in the water already!
Kevin Novenario of Cocoa is featured in our third photo with a nice Spanish Mackerel he landed using a Gotcha lure.
Ron Alford of Melbourne sent in our last two photos. Ron was fishing the south side of the Park, near the kayak launch when he landed the undersized Mutton Snapper in our fourth photo. Ron released the fish right after the photo.
Our last photo is of one of three undersized Reds that were caught and released.
