10-07-14 TUESDAY: REDS, JACKS, BLUE RUNNERS, SPANISH MACKEREL AND A FEW BLUES
It's another nice morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the East-Southeast at 6 mph, gusting to 9 and there is a light chop on the water. We are seeing extreme tides due to the coming full moon. We have the possibility of rain on and off today, so go prepared if your head to the inlet.
The finger mullet were schooling around the jetty early yesterday morning, but when the tide turned the larger mullet started showing up, according to Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike fished the north jetty and reported the Mangrove Snapper bite was non-existent and the Spanish Mackerel bite was missing as well. Quite a few Reds were landed in the early morning hours, most were oversized but a few came over the rails that were in the slot. Mike landed a keeper at 25". One nice Black Drum came over the rails, the first one Mike has seen this season. Jacks and Blue Runners were plentiful. Mike heard of a few Snook hook-ups, but none came over the rails during his time on the jetty.
Friday morning before dawn, Spiro Stathopoulos of Malabar landed this beautiful 30" slot Snook using finger mullet.
