Sebastian Inlet Report
09-09-14 TUESDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, SNOOK, JACKS AND BLUE RUNNERS
We have a little more wind than yesterday; it's "blowing" out of the South-Southwest at 3 mph, gusting to 5. There is a light chop on the clean, clear water. It's a beautiful, albeit warm morning at the inlet.
The Mangrove Snapper bite was still good yesterday morning according to Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. Mike fished from 6:00 - 10:30 and he reported that a lot of inlet anglers landed their limits of five Snapper. The incoming tide was crystal clear and a lot of Snook were visible, but not many were biting. Bait was scarce, mojarra and greenies were hard to come by and no mullet were visible, which is odd for this time of year. One slot Snook was landed off the north jetty in the early morning hours prior to Mike's arrival and one slot Snook was landed by a boat near the jetty around 8:00 a.m. Mike didn't see any Reds landed, but lots of Needlefish were in the water and Blue Runners were darting around.
Our first photo today is courtesy of inlet regular Justin Werner of Palm Bay. Lexi from Chicago was visiting Justin over the weekend when she landed this nice 34" C/R Snook. The Snook was released unharmed right after the photo.
Our second photo is courtesy of Randy Wickens. Randy sent in the photo of 16 year old Brendon Vaughn of Tilton, New Hampshire. Brendon watches YouTube fishing videos of the inlet and was eager to get out onto the jetty to try his hand. Brendon landed this large Ladyfish about 10:00 p.m. That's a big Ladyfish.
