Sebastian Inlet Report

09-05-14 FRIDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, JACKS, REDS, BLUE RUNNERS AND A FEW SPANISH MACKEREL

It's a real pretty morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 2 mph with an occasional gust to 4. The water is calm and the NOAA forecast is calling for 2' seas over the weekend.

We received an update from Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach who fished the very early morning hours on the north jetty. Chuck reported that around 4:30 a.m., the Redfish bite went off for about 30 minutes. Chuck landed three Reds, two that were over the slot at 28" and 28.5" and released, and a keeper at 26.5". Chuck reported that several regulars including Tony Swiderski, Mike White, Larry Robison and Jose Dore also landed Reds, but all were oversized; only one other slot Red was landed. A couple of Snook were hooked up but none were landed. After the 30 minute flurry of Reds, the bite died down.

It looks as if the pace stayed about the same throughout most the day as we received an update from Mike Ryan of Sebastian who fished the north jetty again yesterday afternoon. Mike reported a real slow afternoon, but the view was beautiful, so no complaints!  Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported a decent Mangrove Snapper bite this morning along with a few Blue Runners, Jacks and Spanish Mackerel. Tommy said that after the rain late yesterday afternoon, a huge school of big mullet came through the inlet and big Tarpon and Sharks were busting up the school, putting on a great show.

Our first photo today is of Mo. He landed a half dozen mullet and started fishing the beach. The Snook were blasting through the schools of bait and within five minutes, he landed his nice 31" slot Snook!
Photo two features Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach with the 26.5" Red he landed yesterday morning, around 4:30 a.m.
Bill Hillman of Kissimmee sent in our last photo of Louis of Puerto Rico with an oversized Red he landed using a live mullet. This was Louis' first time fishing the inlet; he also landed 10 large Jacks.
