We have a real pretty morning at the inlet. It's a hot day already, but we have a little breeze which is helping with the heat. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 6 mph, gusting to 11 and there is a light to moderate chop on the water. We always have a chance of summer rain or thunderstorms, so go prepared if you head to the inlet.
Mangrove Snapper remain the best bet for table fare from the jetties. There is still a lot of bait in the water, which is great! Jacks and Bonito are crashing the bait pods, creating a lot of excitement. We've seen good sized C/R Reds, C/R Snook, and a few Blues, which we don't see many of this time of year. A few Southern Flounder have made appearances as well as a real nice Permit on occasion. Fishing is unpredictable, you never know what you are going to catch at the inlet and this time of year anglers are likely to go home empty handed. Keep in mind; fall fishing is just around the corner!
Our first photo today features Joel Linares of Orlando with a huge Permit he landed off the north jetty using some kind of live fish, but he was unsure of what type. Joel was fishing with his cousin Armando Rodriguez who was visiting from Philadelphia, and is featured in the second photo holding the beast.
