07-07-14 MONDAY: JACKS, SNAPPER, REDS AND SNOOK

This morning we have winds blowing out of South-Southwest at 2 mph, gusting to 5. Although there's not much wind, the no see 'ums aren't out this morning, they may have drowned with all the rain we had over the weekend!
Even with the rains, we had periods of sunshine and lots of people at the State Park enjoying the long weekend. Tommy Turowski of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop reported that a lot of Snapper have moved in and they are taking shrimp, Snapper and Jacks have been the most prevalent species. Big Snook and Reds have been very active as well and a couple of Black Drum came over the rails, which is not real common this time of year. Some small stuff such as Lookdowns and Blue Runners have been showing up in ones and twos.
Our angler of the day is 17 year old Ryan Vetsch of Merritt Island with a real nice Snook he landed using a Bomber Long A from shore. The Snook was released unharmed after the photo.
