07-03-14 THURSDAY: THE ACTION IS ON THE SLOW SIDE
We have a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 12 mph, gusting to 16 and there is a moderate chop on the water, small craft should exercise caution. The NOAA forecast is calling for seas to calm down over the holiday weekend, but there is always the chance of showers and thunderstorms at this time of year. We received an update from Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach who fished the north jetty yesterday morning and reported a dull event. The churned up water from TS Arthur turned the water murky and a lot of weeds were in the water, tangling lines. Chuck and Tony Swiderski of Sebastian floated out crabs and shrimp on the outgoing tide hoping for a Permit or a Red, but came up empty handed. The only fish Chuck saw come over the rails yesterday were Jacks and Catfish. Although Chuck reported schools of Spanish Mackerel could be seen in the distance, they were out of casting range. Perhaps now that Arthur has moved up the coast we will see those Mackerel move in, let's hope so!
Our first photo today features Kurush Akbari of Palm Bay. Kurush landed the C/R Snook while wade fishing the Indian River Lagoon. We like the innovative floating cooler Kurush. The Snook was released unharmed after the photo.
