07-10-14 THURSDAY: JACKS, MANGROVE SNAPPER, REDS, C/R SNOOK AND AN OCCASIONAL PERMIT
It's a real pretty morning at the inlet, but it's going to be another real hot day. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 4 mph, gusting to 7 and there is a light chop on the water. The NOAA forecast is calling for 2' seas and potential rain later this morning and this afternoon.
We're seeing mostly Mangrove Snapper and Jacks being landed off the north jetty. Some big Reds are holding in the newly dredged and excavated sand trap and C/R Snook are active. An occasional big Permit will find its way to a jetty angler as well. There are a lot of greenies and mojarra in the water, but we also have a couple of big Barracuda patrolling the north jetty that could be keeping the fish away.
More on yesterdays photo of "Big Dave" Hartwell's 41 lb. Permit that he landed off the north jetty. Around noon on the outgoing tide, Dave was free lining a blue crab that got this big Permit's attention.
