06-18-14 WEDNESDAY: ATLANTIC SPADEFISH, BLUE RUNNERS, LOOKDOWNS, WHITING, MANGROVE SNAPPER, REDS AND C/R SNOOK
We have another beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the East at 6 mph and there is a light to moderate chop on the water.
We're seeing a variety of species from the jetties and beaches but nothing in large numbers. Mangrove Snapper, Whiting, Blue Runners, Atlantic Spadefish, Reds, C/R Snook are making brief appearances. Folks fishing offshore have had good luck and a few fishing the river have had success.
We received an update from Luke Vila of Kissimmee who fished the banks of the inlet with his brother James and friend Justin Mitchell. The men landed a good variety of fish species. Sheepshead, Mangrove Snapper, Catfish, Margate, Black Drum, a Red and a Shark were landed and released. They used live shrimp for everything but the Shark, Justin took 20 minutes to land what looks like a Black Tip or Spinner Shark (according to SISP Ranger Ed Perry). Justin used 1/2 a pinfish for that one.
