05-08-14 THURSDAY: FISHING REMAINS SLOW
After spending over three hours on the jetty this morning, all I can say is fishing is slow, very slow! The water is nice and clean, but there are some clumps of seaweed tangling lines. A lot of finger mullet are in the water, but nothing is around to bust up the schools. Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach landed a 30" C/R Red before daylight and had an exciting hook-up with what looked like an oversized Snook. The Snook wrapped up in the rocks and broke the line. Chuck's had a rough season anyway, he's about 0 for 30 in the slot sized Snook category! We still have until the end of the month to land one in the slot, make it happen Chuck! A couple of Lookdowns and Blue Runners came over the rails and Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach had a Snook hook-up that broke off in the rocks as well. Rumor has it there are lots of Blues and Spanish Mackerel in southern Indian River County and we should be seeing those head our way soon. Everybody pray for fish!
