Sebastian Inlet Report

04-11-14 FRIDAY: BLUES, JACKS, LADYFISH, SNOOK, REDS, BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, POMPANO AND TROUT

This morning we have cloud cover over the inlet but we expect to see mainly clear skies today (according to the weather forecast). We have a nice day forecasted for today and Saturday, but more chances of showers on Sunday. Winds are currently blowing out of the East at 10 mph and gusting to 15. There is a moderate chop on the water. The NOAA forecast is still updating on the web site, it can be found under the first photo under the tab NOAA Forecast. Always check the forecast prior to going offshore.

There has been a variety of species landed this week including large Blues, small Sheepshead, small Spanish Mackerel, large Jacks, Black Drum, good sized Pompano, Snook and Reds. We understand that an oversized Red was landed off the north jetty yesterday by a woman who refused to return it to the water, besides the inlet anglers telling her that it was illegal to keep. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and we recommend calling FWC when somebody blatantly breaks the law. To report fishing violations call FWC at 1-888-404-3922. We must protect our large breeder fish and precious resources and if the culprit is reading this, shame on you!

Our first photo today features Steve Cohen and his daughter Suzie from Kissimmee, posing with a 34" C/R Snook landed off the north jetty. Steve used live shrimp to land this nice Snook which was released unharmed right after the photo.
Our second photo features Zyanne Ramos of Titusville. Zyanne landed this nice 18.5" Sheepshead off the north jetty. Her brother Juan was featured last week with the 40 lb. Black Drum. Great job Zyanne!

Our third photo is of 14 year old Luis Ramos of Titusville with a 27.5" C/R Redfish he landed off the north jetty.

We received an update from Manuel Castillo who fished the north jetty Wednesday night and had great success with Bluefish. Luis and his wife Kim arrived at the inlet about 45 minutes before sunset. They saw two oversized C/R Reds, one slot Red and one slot Snook come over the rails. Luis and Kim landed 20 large Blues between them.
