Sebastian Inlet Report

04-18-14 FRIDAY: SLOW DAYS BUT LOTS OF JACKS, BLUES, LADYFISH AND SHARKS AT NIGHT

We had a lot of rain at the inlet this morning. We have a wet day forecasted as well as a wet Saturday morning, but hopefully we will see the sun start to shine tomorrow afternoon and into Easter Sunday. The wind is not as bad today, so that is a good sign. It is blowing out of the Southeast at 12 mph and gusting to 14. Small craft should exercise caution. The high winds and rough seas this week have brought in a good amount of seaweed, so heavier tackle and raingear is recommended for a trip to the inlet.

It seems as if the days are pretty slow, unless you get lucky, but the nights are action packed. Tommy Turowski's report on the nighttime activity was confirmed by Manuel and Kim Castillo and their son and daughter in law who fished Tuesday night and from 10:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. the bite was very good. The foursome landed a large number of Jacks and Blues, but the prize of the night was a 29" C/R bull Red, landed and quickly released by Kim.

Our first photo today is courtesy of Manuel Castillo and features his daughter in law, Ilene Dyess with an enormous Bluefish she landed Tuesday night using cut mullet. This is the biggest fish Ilene has caught to date, what a monster!
