From Capt Joe Ward @ Bait Shack - FT Pierce
The fishing for trout and redfish has been good at places like Bear Point, Jack Island and around the Little Mud Creek area. Most of the big fish are taking live pilchards, free lined around the grass and sand pockets. Try around the mangroves for the redfish. They are taking a live shrimp or a gold spoon. The snook fishing remains good around the North Bridge and in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. Again, live baits like a pilchard, pinfish or a pigfish are the baits of choice. Make sure you fish the baits on the bottom and use as much weight as it takes to hold the bottom. There has been a lot of mackerel and jacks in the Ft. Pierce Inlet along with some blues. Try a Gotcha Jig and use a small pierce of leader. The sheepshead are still active around the local bridges and docks. The two top baits have been a fiddler crab or a live shrimp.
