Snook fishing remains the main game in town on the inshore. Fish the bridges at night for best action. The top of the outgoing tide has been the best part of the tide fort the snook. Look for mullet schools moving in the shadow line for most of the action. Once a mullet school is spotted, the bait: artificial or natural should be presented on the outer edge of the mullet school. This way the mullet and snook will not be spooked by the bait's presentation. The best bet for bait is a live mullet or small ladyfish although live shrimp will also produce fish. A chunk of mullet/ ladyfish fished on the bottom may also trigger a bite. The most productive lures have been large swimbaits and diving plugs. Fish where the fish are, so don't spend all night at one spot if it isn't producing, move around until you find some action!
Pier and Surf- Spanish mackerel and a few Pompano have consistently been hanging around juno pier. The bite has been specific to the early morning and late afternoon. Fish a 1/8 oz white crappie jig at the end of the pier for spanish macks. Pompano have been caught on clams, sand fleas, and shrimp this week. The Surf has had its fair share of whiting, and spinner sharks with a few scattered pompano as well. Whiting have been caught on small pieces of shrimp right in the first trough. The pompano have been caught on clams, sand fleas, and shrimp. For spinner sharks the action has been out past the first sandbar, cast a bait such a a blue runner head out past the bar. For best results use a rig with some wire leader and about 5 ounces of lead.
