Sebastian Inlet Report
02-05-14 WEDNESDAY: BLACK DRUM, REDS AND BLUES
This morning there is very little wind at the inlet. Winds are barely blowing from the East at 1 mph; even so, there is a moderate chop on the water.
We haven't had a lot of updates from our readers, which we really depend on. Fortunately, we received an update from Rich Saldana of Melbourne who fished the north jetty. Rich reported Black Drum coming over the rails along with a few Reds and quite a few Blues. A 26" juvenile Goliath Grouper was landed and immediately released, as required by law. Goliath Grouper are a prohibited species and should never be targeted, but if caught should be returned to the water immediately, unharmed. There are a couple of real "big boys" in the several hundred pound range lurking under the north jetty and they are infamous for popping out and snagging an unsuspecting angler's fish being brought in! These huge Grouper can reach 800 lbs. and 8' in length.
Our angler of the day is Rich Saldana of Melbourne with some good sized Blues he landed off the north jetty.
