Sebastian Inlet Report
01-10-14 FRIDAY: SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM, REDS, A FEW BLUES AND POMPANO
The winds have calmed down significantly. This morning it's blowing out of the South-Southeast at 4 mph and gusting to 6, however a small craft advisory is in effect through 10:00 a.m. The water is still churned up.
Our best bet for jetty fishing is Sheepshead or Black Drum. Sheepshead love structures and dropping a line by the north jetty pilings either catwalk or the T-Dock, baited with any crustacean, will probably get results. Sand fleas have been working well this week, if you can find them. Black Drum continue to be landed on fresh clams, but they will also take shrimp, dead or alive. PLEASE clean up your clam shells, recycle them by tossing them back into the ocean, don't leave a mess for others to clean up. Fishing has been slow this week, but patient anglers have seen some Reds, a few Blues and Pompano, small Mackerel and a few Flounder.
Our first photo today is courtesy of Sean Strahlo. Sean took the photo of Doug Hambel of Melbourne with an enormous 40+ lb. Redfish he landed using 1/2 a pogie. The Red was released right after the photo.
Photo two features Chris Hansen of Carmel, NY who was here on vacation when he landed this nice, 26" slot Red from the south jetty using a mud minnow.
Our third photo features Betty Darnell of Melbourne and Kristen Rawles of Suffolk, VA with Black Drum they landed off the north jetty.
Our last photo today features Bill Hillman with a 41" C/R Redfish he landed using a bucktail. Bill released the Red unharmed after the photo.
