12-11-13 WEDNESDAY: BLACK DRUM, POMPANO, SPANISH MACKEREL, JACKS, BLUE RUNNERS AND CATFISH
We have another lovely day at the inlet. Winds have picked up a little and we've had a switch in direction. The wind is blowing out of the North-Northeast at 11 mph and gusting to 14. There is a moderate chop on the water.
Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach, who has been missing from the inlet for a month or more, finally made it back onto the north jetty yesterday. Mike reported a strong Black Drum bite for anglers using clams, dead shrimp and sand fleas. Tony Swiderski of Sebastian and "Granny" of Melbourne both limited out on Black Drum, 5 each. Pompano were active and Mike landed two that were 17" and 18". Diane Buyce of Melbourne landed four and at least one angler limited out with 6, Sonny Advincula of Kissimmee. Spanish Mackerel were hitting as well. Jacks, Blue Runners and Catfish were hitting, but most of those were tossed back into the water. Mike didn't see any Snook come over the rails but one slot sized Red was landed. Great to have you back Mike, thanks for the update!
