10-08-13 TUESDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, REDS, SNOOK, JACKS AND LOOKDOWNS
We have a real nice breeze at the inlet this morning; it's coming out of the West-Southwest at 9 mph and gusting to 15. There is a light chop on the water and it's pretty flat, so no surf this morning.
Mangrove Snapper continue to bite well, according to inlet regular Mike Ricciardi who fished the north jetty yesterday morning. Mike said he couldn't remember the last time the Snapper bite was this good for this long. Mojarra, greenies, small finger mullet and live shrimp were all working well for the Snapper. He missed an early morning Snook bite, 3 - 4 slot fish were landed before 7:00 a.m. Reds were slow, in comparison to last week, 4 - 5 came over the rails, but only two were in the slot. A lot of big Jacks were caught and a few nice Lookdowns were landed as well. Diane Buyce of Melbourne had a great time fighting and landing a 36" C/R Snook and a C/R Red, along with her limit of Mangrove Snapper. Mike got his limit of Snapper as well.
Our photo today features inlet regular Tony Swiderski with one of the few slot Reds landed. He was using live mullet to land this 24" keeper Red.
