10-03-13 THURSDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, REDS, SNOOK, SPANISH MACKEREL, ATLANTIC SPADEFISH AND BLUES
We have a real nice breeze at the inlet this morning and it's beautiful. Winds are blowing out of the East at 8 mph, and there is a light chop on the water.
Mike Riccardi of Vero Beach fished the north jetty yesterday and reported that 8 - 10 Reds came over the rails, 3 were in the slot. Mike landed a 38" C/R Red using mojarra before landing a keeper at 25". A few C/R Snook were landed in the 15" - 18" range; live mullet remain the best bait for those. Mangrove Snapper are still abundant and Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach landed a real nice one that was 16". Spanish Mackerel were hitting live greenies and a few Atlantic Spadefish came over the rails. A lot of Jacks in the 2 - 10 lb. range were landed and a few stragglers of Margate, Blue Runners and Catfish were landed as well.
Our first photo features Dick and Dot Kern of Englewood. Dick and Dot come over and camp at the inlet 4 times a year and love to fish the north jetty. This trip, they brought some of their friends from the Englewood Florida Fishing Club. Dick is holding a large Atlantic Spade and Dot has a Mangrove Snapper. An unidentified friend has a real nice Spanish Mackerel.
Our second photo features Dave Delaware with a nice Mackerel that was 26".
