The inshore fishing had been steady for snook, snapper and trout. The best snook bite has been on the falling tide when fishing in the Ft. Pierce Inlet. A live bait fished on the bottom has been the way to go. Around the bridges has been okay one day and not so hot the next. Same thing - a live bait fished on the bottom. The snapper bite has been very good along the channel edges when using a small live shrimp. Some of the snapper have been up to 2 pounds. The trout bite has been good when fishing on the flats in the deeper cuts and holes. A live shrimp fished under a popping cork will get the job done. Try places like Harbor Branch and the Moorings Flats to the north and to the south try Bear Point. The trout have been up to 5 pounds.
There are plenty of Spanish mackerel, jacks and bluefish in the Ft. Pierce Inlet and in the Turning Basin. These fish will take just about anything shinny. In the surf there has been whiting, jacks, Spanish mackerel, bluefish and a snook or two.
