09-12-13 THURSDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, BLUE RUNNERS AND SPANISH MACKEREL
We have some rain at the inlet this morning, but very little wind; it's blowing out of the East at 1 mph. Be sure to take insect repellent if you head to the inlet, along with sunscreen and lots of water.
The jellyfish are starting to thin out according to Tommy Turowski at the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop. They've been wreaking havoc on the fishing the past week. This morning before the rains set in Walton Ray of Mebourne Beach landed a good sized Spanish Mackerel, the Barracuda must have moved on. There have been some large schools of Mackerel visible in the distance, but the Barracuda have kept them out of casting distance the past few days. There are still good numbers of Mangrove Snapper to be had and a lot of Blue Runners have started to move in.
Our first photo today features Jonathan S. of Orlando. Jonathan fished the north jetty when things were pretty slow. He did quite well, considering the conditions. Jonathan took home three good sized Mangrove Snapper for the table.
Photo two is of Don Nguyen of Kissimmee with, a 29.5" C/R landed on live shrimp. The Red was lowered back in via net and swam away healthy.
