09-13-13 FRIDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, BLUE RUNNERS, AND SPADEFISH
It's a real pretty morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Northwest at 2 mph and there is a light chop on the water. There is a small swell at second peak this morning for our surfers and a few are in the water taking advantage, it's been flat for a long time.
We received an update from Mike Ricciardi on yesterday morning's north jetty activities. Mike confirmed that the jellyfish have thinned out quite a bit, and the greenies and mojarra have returned. Even so, fishing was on the slow side yesterday morning. Catfish and Ladyfish were the prominent catches, along with a Spadefish or two and Mangrove Snapper. Larry Robison of W. Melbourne landed a 36" C/R Redfish in the early morning hours.
Our first photo today features Wayne "Snookman" Landry. Wayne landed this enormous Snook off the north jetty. Using a 7.5' light tackle rod with 12 lb. monofilament with a 40 lb. leader and live shrimp, Wayne managed to get this beautiful Snook over the rails. It is the largest Snook he's landed to date, over 48" and over 30 lbs., she was thick and HEAVY! Wayne got her back into the water right after the photo and she swam away happy and healthy!
Photo two features Luis Rivera with a nice 18" Flounder.Ray Rodriguez is featured in our third photo with a Lemon Shark he landed off the north jetty using live mullet. Ray released the Shark right after the photo.
