Sebastian Inlet Report

08-23-13 FRIDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, C/R SNOOK AND REDS 

This morning there is no breeze to speak of; there is an occasional gust of wind out of the South, which will make conditions less than desirable until it picks up. No wind = no see 'ums, so be sure to take insect repellent if you head to the inlet today. 

Mangrove Snapper continue to bite, C/R Snook which need to be handled to care, and oversized and slot Red have been making a comeback at the inlet. 

Our first photo today features Alex Dominguez with a C/R Snook he landed off the seawall after cleaning his boat. He estimated it was 30".

We received updates and photos from Chuck Fischer and Mike Ricciardi who fished the north jetty yesterday morning. Chuck, an early riser, reported that around 5:00 a.m., the Redfish bite turned on. Chuck landed a total of three, two were oversized. The one in our 2nd photo is a C/R at 29", but he did manage to land a keeper at 27". 
Mike Ricciardi said he and Chuck were both on a roll yesterday! Both men landed 27" slot Reds and caught their limits of five of Mangrove Snapper. Chuck landed all of his fish using live shrimp, Mike was using live mojarra to land his Red and 3 of 5 Snapper, he used live shrimp for the other two Snapper. Mike got his Red on the morning incoming tide, around 9:00. Sounds like a great day! Photo third is of Mike with his 27" slot Red and a couple of Snapper.
Our last photo features Larry Robison of West Melbourne who got in on the Redfish action early yesterday morning. Larry landed his 27" slot Red using live shrimp.
