08-16-13 FRIDAY: SNAPPER, REDFISH, C/R SNOOK AND JACKS
We have a real nice morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 5 mph and the water is calm.
Mangrove Snapper, and an occasional Mutton and Cubera have shown up for anglers fishing the north jetty and shallows. Jacks are still busting up pods of baitfish, creating an occasional frenzie and oversized and slot sized Redfish have been active on the flats and from both jetties and the catwalks. We received an update from Richard Forlifer who spent last weekend camping with his family at Long Point Park. Richard reported Reds hitting soft plastics on Saturday. Richard's son, 10 year old Kendrick landed a 26" beauty around 2:00 p.m.
North jetty regular, Mike Misserville is featured in our second photo today. Mike landed his beautiful 25" Cubera Snapper off the north jetty.
Melbourne resident Richard Doughman reported that he fished from evening into the night and reported great activity from the Reds. He was using mojarra and greenies and his first catch was over the slot, around 30". Richard didn't take time to measure it, but he guessed it was in the 30" range. His second Red was a slot at 24".
