08-14-13 WEDNESDAY: MANGROVE SNAPPER, JACKS, REDS, C/R SNOOK AND SPOTS
It's a real nice morning at the inlet. We have a Southwest wind blowing at 9 mph, keeping our anglers nice and cool and there is a light chop on the water.
Mangrove Snapper have been the biggest draw to the inlet, as far as table fare goes. There are a lot of bait fish in the water, mostly greenies. Big Jacks are busting up the bait pods, particularly inside the inlet. We've had some lucky folks who've landed keeper Reds, C/R Snook (please do not target them), a nice Mutton and a beautiful Cubera Snapper. Spottail Pinfish and Lookdowns in ones and twos, overall it's a typical August, definitely on the slow side.
Our Photo is courtesy of Chris Banta who landed his 32" C/R Snook off the south beach.Chris was fishing alone, so he laid down the fish, took the photo and got it back in the water immediately.
