Sebastian Inlet Report

07-01-13 MONDAY: SPANISH MACKEREL, BONITA, MANGROVE SNAPPER, JACKS, BLUE RUNNERS, PERMIT, REDS AND C/R SNOOK

It's a beautiful morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 8 mph and gusting to 13. The water remains calm, but not as clean.

Over the weekend we saw some real hungry C/R Snook. Please handle all C/R species with care. Snook are spawning and are hungry and it's hard to keep them off the line this time of year. Please keep the fish out of the water as short amount of time as possible. If photographing, support the fish under the jaw and belly, do not hold it vertically. Use wet hands and get it back into the water as soon as possible. Spanish Mackerel are still darting around the jetties along with some big Bonito. Jacks, Blue Runners, Mangrove Snapper, a few Permit and Lookdowns, and Barracuda have been showing up to terrorize the fish away. We've had a "carpet" of greenies swarming the north jetty.

Our first photo is of Justin Werner of Palm Bay who landed this beautiful 20 lb. Permit. There were several hook-ups about 4:30 am

Our second photo features Laura Weinberger of Palm Bay. Laura landed this nice Spanish Mackerel off the north jetty.
Our last photo shows the "greenie carpet" off the north jetty. The dark space is all bait fish!
