03-08-13 FRIDAY: BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, BLUES, SNOOK, REDS, JACKS, POMPANO AND MARGATE IN SMALL NUMBERS
It's a crisp, cool morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the North at 10 mph and there is a light to moderate chop on the water. The NOAA forecast is calling for small craft to exercise caution, particularly near inlets. This weekend looks like a washout for boaters, the forecast is calling for high seas, but it's good news for our surfers out there.
Fishing remains on the slow side, but some nice fish have been landed by the more patient anglers. Yesterday Mike Ricciardi fished the north jetty and reported a very slow morning. Mike landed a good sized Black Drum, a few Blues were landed and a couple of Snook came over the rails before daylight, which were over the slot and returned to the water. Not many people were out fishing the jetties in the morning hours.
Our first photo today features Melissa Harr of North Dakota who landed a number of Black Drum and a couple of Sheepshead using sand fleas and small crabs.
Our second photo today features Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach with a large Black Margate he landed using clams. This big Margate was 22" and 8 - 9lbs., the largest Mike's ever caught.
Photo three features Angelo Del Tedesco of Orlando with a huge 24" Sheepshead he landed, Angelo was fishing off the north jetty using a fiddler crab to land this beauty!
Photo Four is of Mike Misserville, who landed his 29" slot Snook while free-lining live shrimp.
In photo five, Chuck Fischer of Satellite Beach landed two nice Black Drum, this one was 28" and Tony Swiderski of Sebastian with a beautiful 32" slot Snook he landed using a bottom rig with live shrimp.
