Sebastian Inlet Report

03-05-13 TUESDAY: BLUES, BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD AND SNOOK, BUT IN SMALL NUMBERS

It's a cool, but lovely morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the West-Southwest at 7 mph and there is a light chop on the water. The NOAA forecast is calling for a small craft advisory tonight through Thursday morning; always check the offshore forecast prior to going out.

We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who was out on the north jetty yesterday morning and reported a chilly start to the day. Mike arrived on the jetty at 7:00 a.m. so the sun made the temperature bearable. Water conditions were great on the outgoing tide. Only six people were out braving the cold. Mike landed one Bluefish and that was it for him, Tommy Ngo of Melbourne landed one Blue and undersized Sheepshead that was returned. The big winner of the day was our snow bird regular, Rich Blum. Rich scored with a 23" Black Drum and a 34" C/R Snook that he landed using a bottom rig! Everybody thought he had a big Drum on and were surprised when he pulled the big Snook in photo one over the rails!
Photo two of is of, Larry Johnson of Orlando who  fished the north jetty and landed several keeper Black Drum and Sheepshead using clams and sand fleas.
Our third photo today features Dick and Dot Kern of Englewood. Dick and Dot come over and stay at the campground 3 - 4 times a year for a week, and they just happened to pick one of the coolest weeks of the year this time! They landed this Black Drum , but the day before they did much better with 7 Whiting, 2 Sheepshead, one oversized and one undersized C/R Snook.
