Sebastian Inlet Report

02-08-13 FRIDAY: SHEEPSHEAD, BLACK DRUM, SEA TROUT, FLOUNDER, WHITING BLUES, REDS AND SNOOK

We never get tired of saying "it's another beautiful morning at the Sebastian Inlet!" Winds are blowing out of the West-Northwest at 7 mph; the water is clean and calm with a light ripple on the surface.

We received an update from Diane Buyce of Melbourne who reported the anglers fishing the morning shift haven't been having a lot of luck. Diane was out Wednesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday was very slow. She did a little better yesterday with 5 smaller, but keeper Sheepshead. One slot Snook was landed each morning for anglers using live shrimp.
Afternoon and evenings have been more prosperous for our jetty anglers. It seems that when the winds pick up a little bit and the water gets a little choppier in the afternoons, the bite turns on, particularly on the incoming tide. Black Drum and Sheepshead have been the best bites off the north jetty. Anglers using shrimp and clams have been landing Black Drum, and Sheepshead have really been going after sand fleas. Some nice Speckled Sea Trout have been making appearances in the inlet and on the flats, along with a few Flounder. Whiting and Blues have been landed in the surf, but not in huge numbers.
Our first angler today is Greg Hoszowski of Indialantic with a real nice 31" slot Snook. Greg landed his Snook using live shrimp. Greg also landed an oversized Snook that was returned to the water.
Photo two features Hank Bennett of Lake Wales. Hank and a couple of buddies were fishing the north jetty when they landed some good sized Black Drum and Sheepshead. Hank was using shrimp to land his fish.

Our last photo today is of Nick Canzano, also of Lake Wales who landed several Sheepshead and Black Drum using clams.
