We had quite a change in weather yesterday. It was cold on the north jetty with the wind blowing out of the North at 20 mph with an occasional unexpected shower coming over the rails! This morning, we have more of the same. Winds are blowing out of the North-Northeast at 18 mph and the water is choppy. There is a small craft advisory in effect through 4:00 p.m. today. Be sure to check the coastal forecast if you plan to go offshore this weekend!
Although the weather was less than stellar, fishing wasn't too bad yesterday. Some medium and large Black Drum were landed in the morning hours. Dead shrimp and clams worked well for the Drum. Some Pompano and real nice Sheepshead came over the rails along with a few Flounder on the south side.
Bill James of Vero Beach landed 11 Spanish Mackerel on, using soft plastics.
Tommy Turowski of the Sebastian Inlet Bait and Tackle Shop fished the north beach in the late afternoon and reported that with every cast, he had a Pompano! Diane Buyce of Melbourne limited out with some real good sized ones, her largest was 20" and is featured in our first photo today. Photo two shows Diane with multiple Pompano she landed on. Diane also landed, a Sheepshead and a Whiting yesterday morning before 10:00 a.m.
