Sebastian Inlet Report
12-12-12 WEDNESDAY: BLACK DRUM, POMPANO, SHEEPSHEAD, REDS, FLOUNDER AND BLUES
REMINDER: Snook season closes December 15th and will remain closed until February 1st.
It's another glorious morning at the Sebastian Inlet. Winds are blowing out of the Southwest at 1 mph and the water is calm. We had a good rain early this morning and the forecast is calling for clouds and potential showers throughout the day. Be sure to be prepared if you head to the inlet today.
Yesterday morning, there was a fair Black Drum bite during the morning on the incoming tide. The bite slowed on the tide turn, around 9:00, according to Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach. At least 10 nice Drum were landed. There were lots of folks out trying to land Snook as there are only a couple of day left in the season, but there were none to be found. A couple of slot Reds were landed on the outgoing tide and the Pompano bite turned on later in the morning, with some real nice fish coming over the rails of the north jetty.
We also received an update from Christian Banta who fished the south side of the inlet, landed 20 C/R Black Drum, 2 slot Black Drum, 2 Pompano and one slot Red.
Photo one features Spiro Stathopoulos of Malabar with a 26" Black Drum he landed using clams.
Photo two features Walton Malcolm a/k/a "Jamaican John" with a real nice 29" Black Drum.
With the north jetty "shortened" by Hurricane Sandy, please have courtesy for your fellow anglers and use only as many rods as you can manage by yourself. There is no rule as to how many rods one may use, but common courtesy should come into play, particularly at this time. If you are using more than one rod, please use them in "your space" that you can manage alone. Your cooperation will make fishing the north jetty more pleasurable for everyon
