11-09-12 FRIDAY: BLACK DRUM, SHEEPSHEAD, BLUES, JACKS AND FLOUNDER
We have another cool, windy morning at the inlet. Winds are blowing out of the North at 13 mph and gusting to 19. The water is choppy and there is a small craft advisory for seas through this evening. Over the weekend, we have more wind predicted; always check the coastal forecast prior to venturing offshore.
We received an update from inlet regular Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach who fished the north jetty yesterday morning and reported less than stellar conditions. It was wet and uncomfortable with cold temperatures, high winds and rough seas. By the time he left the jetty at 1:30 p.m., he was feeling thoroughly starched with dry salt. Regardless, plenty of Black Drum came over the rails; the largest was 30", landed by Bill Hillman. Out of the 60+ Black Drum that were landed, half were under the slot limit of 14". Tony Swiderski of Sebastian was the most successful angler out there yesterday morning, limiting out at five. Tom and Jean Miller landed 4 - 5 Black Drum and one Red, and several others had 2 - 3 Black Drum, including Mike. A few Sheepshead were landed, several Flounder and one oversized Snook.
