11-29-12 THURSDAY: BLACK DRUM, SNOOK AND JACKS
The wind is blowing out of the North-Northeast at 15 mph and gusting to 21 this morning. The forecast is calling for the same kind of conditions over the next couple of days. The water is choppy and small craft should exercise caution. Always check the coastal forecast prior to going offshore.
We received an update from Mike Ricciardi of Vero Beach, who did not fish but got the "word" on yesterday's north jetty activities. A lot of Pinfish were in the water, stealing bait. Tony Swiderski of Sebastian landed two undersized Snook at 18" and 23", prior to 7:30, one oversized Snook at 35", was brought in by Mike Misserville. Dave Lectric of Sebastian landed the only slot Snook, at 29". All were free-lining live shrimp. After the tide turn, five Black Drum came over the rails from the inlet side, but overall, it was a pretty slow morning
The Redfish in the photo was brought in by inlet regular Diane Buyce of Melbourne. This big Red wasn't even removed from the net, she knew was way over the slot, so she just lowered it back into the water.
